Throughout the semester, we have studied a variety of different artists from different backgrounds, areas if the world, and different ages that are creating art about their life experiences. Creating a diverse range of artist studies allows students to see themselves reflected within the art they are looking at as opposed to simply looking at the art of one type of person, race, or background. Most of the artists that we have studied are also contemporary artists that are still alive today, this means that their work is addressing current world issues that students can relate to.
